North Texas Family Receives $10 Million in Wrongful Death Case

A mourning family received more than $10 million in a settlement this month, concluding a wrongful death case in North Texas. The family of Mary Barksdale sued both Trendsetter Construction and employee Nathan Richardson after a devastating accident involving a commercial truck left her with deadly head injuries.

Toxicology tests revealed that Richardson, the driver, was on Valium, Xanax, and marijuana while driving and pulling a trailer for Trendsetter. Richardson crossed over the lane into oncoming traffic and hit a vehicle driven by Bob Barksdale before also hitting the Ford Expedition driven by his wife Mary. Bob Barksdale, who survived the wreck, sued the company and Richardson for gross negligence. The case was settled in mid-May.
