North Texas Children Die in El Paso Car Accident

Three children were visiting their grandfather in El Paso when a Ford F-150 pickup truck hit the family’s Chevy Impala and sent it through a fence, into the neighboring yard. The driver of the truck is suspected of being intoxicated.

The three children, their grandfather and a friend died: 11-year-old Brenda Morales, 8-year-old DeMarco Morales and 18-year-old Jassmine Alferez, and their grandfather, 61-year-old Humberto Alferez and 52-year-old Aurora Sombra.

The driver of the truck, Alberto Coronado, 23, ran a stop sign and the police believe alcohol and speed were factors. Coronado survived the accident and was able to climb out of his truck. He was arrested at the scene and now faces five counts of intoxication manslaughter.

Neighbors stated the children were visiting their grandfather while on summer vacation. There are many tenants who are moving out because the tragedy was so traumatizing. During the memorial service at the area where they were killed, children were leaving religious candles and even stuffed animals in honor of those who died.
